the simple things in life

I awakened at 6am and I looked out my window- the ground and the leaves and the grass and the trees were covered all over with frost. I smiled to myself, I love frost! So I made myself a cup of tea, put on a hoodie and went outside.

You know that crisp, cold air that refreshes your lungs and your mind? And that shivery feeling you get? Not cold, just shivery. I walked up by our orchard and just stood there and marveled at God's nature. The fact that He made us to live in it is overwhelming.
The sun was coming up and I stood and felt it rise up, spreading over the chicken house. Have you ever actually noticed as the sun rises in the morning? The sun hit the raspberries and clover in the orchard...sunbeams on frosted raspberry plants...it's hard to find words.

Frost is so beautiful...instead of just covering everything in a single layer, it is individual. Every leaf, every blade of grass, every clover leaf is frosted and beautiful.

I borrowed my sister's camera and took some pictures...sometimes you can capture the beauty, sometimes you have to just hide it away in your heart. :)

There is beauty in the stillness of the morning and rose-tint in the rising sun; but there is also beauty in the fresh new sun rays brightening the day and melting the frost into a million glistening drops.

What a beautiful way to start my day! I wonder at myself, that I don't take advantage of the beauty of God's creation to still my heart and thank God for the many blessing I have. :)

A glad heart

A glad heart is so important in our lives. It really does make a huge difference. If our faces look happy, it will make others feel happy too. Something I think about, that I may explore later, is we have to develop a glad heart in some situations. I am working toward having a glad heart in all situations. I'm not there yet, but I'm working!

So, I'm starting this blog because I like to write and share thoughts and stories. Sometimes it'll be serious, sometimes not. Oh, like a life book, or a place to ramble, maybe a place to just type somethings out! Either way, it's going to be relaxed, sometimes proper and grammatically correct (or at least an attempt!!) and sometimes just thoughts...our brains don't always think in complete sentences!

My hope is that you're encouraged a little, maybe you learn a little and most of all you smile a little.
